My Approach

It is no secret that our earliest experiences impact our development; however, each person’s response to negative events is unique, and so is their connection to different forms of therapy. I have devoted years of study to understanding the various perspectives and philosophies on human development, and the ways in which our biological, environmental and psychological make-up impacts our belief systems, relationships, and mental wellness as adults.

As a life-long learner, my interest in different styles of therapy has led to the study of numerous evidence-based therapeutic approaches. My professional experience has helped me to narrow down the most effective forms of counselling, and my approach includes a blend of the following methodologies:

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Emotion Focused Therapy

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Solution Focused Therapy

Dialectical Behavioural Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

In my counselling practice, my top priority is making sure that clients feel heard and understood as they are invited to share their stories and experiences at their own pace. Once we have met and I gain an understanding of your current challenges as well as your therapeutic goals, we will collaborate on a plan and determine the gentlest and most effective way to get you there.

About Me

Heather Conrad Registered Clinical Counsellor

Developing resiliency, healing trauma, learning new skills, and changing our beliefs about ourselves and others are processes that take time and commitment. It has been my honour and pleasure to work alongside resilient and courageous individuals, supporting them to create and sustain joyful and meaningful lives and relationships.

My passion for psychology began when I embarked on an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Simon Fraser University. I then worked with several universities as a Program Coordinator, helping students navigate the complexities of school/life balance while pursuing their dreams.

In 2018 I completed a master’s degree in Clinical Counselling and became certified as a Registered Clinical Counsellor in BC. Prior to opening my private practice, I worked with several community support organizations as a Family Counsellor and a Primary Care Counsellor. I enjoy learning new skills, tools and perspectives to share with my clients and regularly participate in training workshops and therapeutic certifications throughout the year.

In addition to the experience gained through my clinical roles, my learning experiences as a coach and as a parent have helped to deepen my understanding of the importance of compassionate, judgement-free support.

I would be honoured to support you in your journey to reconnect with yourself, heal from trauma, enjoy authentic relationships and connection with others, and discover passion for your life and your future.
