Depression & Anxiety

Experiencing chronic hopelessness and overwhelm can negatively impact relationships, diminish self-esteem and lead to unhealthy coping strategies such as avoidance or substance use. Feelings of loneliness and isolation, as well as panic attacks and irritability, are just a few of the ways that depression and anxiety can manifest and impact your quality of life. Counselling that focuses on developing effective coping strategies, reducing negative thoughts and beliefs, and tuning in to emotional needs can aid in restoring a sense of control, improving self-esteem and rediscovering purpose in your life.

Counselling for Youth & Young Adults

Social anxiety, bullying, isolation, and concern about the future are just some of the issues faced by youth and young adults. This may result in increased conflict at home, refusal to attend school, and in some cases, self-harm. I help youth and young adults build their self-esteem, increase their connections with others, and develop tools for resiliency as they learn how to cope with stress, identify strengths, problem solve, and self-soothe.

Grief, Loss & Life Transitions

Life changes such as the loss of a loved one, a divorce, or losing a job can significantly impact your ability to function and lead to prolonged periods of stress and depression. I offer gentle and compassionate support; guiding clients through the grieving process and helping them integrate their experiences to restore balance, meaning, and hope in their lives.

Trauma

Trauma can be defined as anything that happens too much, too soon and too fast for our bodies and minds to process, effectively leaving the experience “stuck” and out of reach for processing. Whether it arises from a single event or cumulative events throughout your life, trauma can have prolonged negative impacts on your health and wellbeing, making it difficult to connect with others, regulate your emotions and establish healthy boundaries. If you feel you are experiencing symptoms related to trauma, I offer EMDR therapy in a safe and gentle space to support you through your healing journey.

Stress & Burnout

Chronic and prolonged stress can negatively impact the nervous system, leaving you feeling overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and unable to keep up with demands at home or at work. Using mindfulness based stress reduction techniques can help to correct nervous system functioning, eliminate the “fight or flight” stress response, and restore balance in your life.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

If you suffer with OCD, you may often feel trapped and overwhelmed in trying to manage intrusive thoughts, repetitive behaviours, and rituals. This can increase susceptibility to social isolation, depression, anxiety, and in some cases, thoughts of self-harm. Supporting someone with OCD requires more than just working on the accompanying anxiety; I provide a supportive environment in which individuals can learn to reduce the impact of their intrusive thoughts through the use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy.
